Man shot, killed in downtown Sacramento; police searching for suspect

Officers are asking for the community's help in finding more information leading up to the shooting. There is no suspect information or motive for the shooting at this time.

UPDATE (3:30 A.M.):

Sacramento police are asking for any information on a shooting that left a man dead Sunday night in downtown Sacramento.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers responded to shooting on 12th Street in downtown's Alkali Flats neighborhood. A man was found with a gunshot wound and taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The unidentified victim was later pronounced dead.

Officers are asking for the community's help in finding more information leading up to the shooting. There is no suspect information or motive for the shooting at this time.

UPDATE (7:30 P.M.):

The shooting investigation continues on 12th Street near C Street, the Sacramento Police department said Sunday night. Inbound 12th Street will be closed between C and D Streets. 

The public is asked to use a different route. 

UPDATE (6:30 P.M.): 

The Sacramento Police Department investigated a shooting on North B Street near 12th Avenue Sunday night. 

As of 7 p.m. 12th street is closed in both directions at Dos Rios and North B Streets. The investigation is ongoing and the closure is expected to last for awhile as officers continue their work, according to Captain Norm Leong.
