Woman shot by her boyfriend in Meadow Vista dies, sheriff says | Update

Placer County officials identified the victim as 23-year-old Sarah Rose. Her boyfriend, 28-year-old Justin Rose, was arrested a short time later.

PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — UPDATE: OCT. 18, 7:40 a.m.

The woman shot by her boyfriend in her Meadow Vista home Wednesday afternoon died in the hospital, the Placer County Sheriff's Office confirmed in a Facebook post.

Placer County officials identified the victim as 23-year-old Sarah Rose. Her boyfriend, 28-year-old Justin Rose, was arrested a short time later after deputies found him driving in Nevada County.

The rifle he allegedly used to shoot Sarah was found inside of his car. Justin's arresting charges were upgraded from attempted murder to murder.

Placer County Sheriff's officials said Sarah and Justin's last names were "coincidental and not a product of their relationship."

A man is behind bars after he was accused of shooting a woman Wednesday afternoon, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office.  

Placer County Sheriff's deputies found a woman with gunshot wounds at a Meadow Vista residence while responding to a 911 call, according to a press release from the sheriff's office. Deputies said the suspect was not at the scene.

Placer County Sheriff's deputies arrested Justin Rose, 28, after they saw Rose driving in the area. The deputies followed Rose and stopped his car at Wolf Road and Highway 49 in Nevada County.

Rose was arrested without incident and booked in the Auburn Jail for one count of attempted murder, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. 

The victim was transported to the hospital for gunshot wounds, according to the sheriff's office.
