Deputies searching for alleged kidnapper after boy reports attempted abduction in Stockton

The boy told police he was walking along Alexandria Place from Benjamin Holt Drive around 2:50 p.m. when a man forced him into a car at gunpoint.

STOCKTON, Calif. — The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help in identifying an alleged kidnapping suspect who they say tried to kidnap a 12-year-old boy on Friday.

The boy told police he was walking along Alexandria Place from Benjamin Holt Drive around 2:50 p.m. when a man forced him into a car at gunpoint, according to a report from the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office.

The boy said when the kidnapper tried to reach for something in the back seat, he took that moment to escape from the vehicle less than a mile from where he had been allegedly abducted, according to the press release.

The sheriff's office describes the kidnapper as being about 5'8" tall and weighing somewhere between 190 and 200 pounds. He is said to be between the ages of 40 to 50-years-old.

The boy told investigators the kidnapper was unshaven with gray hair. He was wearing black sunglasses, a white button-up collared short-sleeve shirt and light blue jeans.

The Lincoln Unified School District Public Safety Department and the Stockton Police Department are assisting in the investigation.

The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone who has information about this case to contact the sheriff's office at 209-468-4400.
