Suspected shooter in Modesto killing dies in hospital, police say

Anthony Dunn, 20, was accused of shooting and killing a man in Modesto.

MODESTO, Calif. —

A man suspected of killing a person in Modesto died at a hospital after shooting himself, police said.

The suspect was identified as Anthony Dunn, 20 of Stockton. 

Officials say Dunn shot and killed Miguel Facha, 22 of Ceres, after trying to rob him on March 16. The killing happened while he was in parking lot at 1601 Yosemite Boulevard around 10:45 p.m.

Officers found Facha in critical condition with a gunshot wound, but, despite rushing him to a hospital, Facha died. 

Police say Dunn ran from the scene, but, by Tuesday afternoon, authorities found him in the Stockton area. Police say Dunn ran from police but was found a short while later with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

He was taken to a hospital but ultimately died from his injury.
