ELK GROVE, Calif. — Two 14-year-old boys were arrested for allegedly bringing a gun and bullets to Elk Grove High School on Thursday.
In a letter sent home to parents, school officials immediately called police after hearing a rumor about a student with a gun on campus.
Police responded and searched the accused student but found no weapon. However, after sweeping the campus, authorities say officers found a gun and ammunition hidden beneath the bleachers inside the gym. It was at this point that police say they learned a second teen boy was allegedly involved.
Both teens are in custody but have not been identified because of their ages.
“The safety of our students and staff is a top priority at our school and we tell our students, staff, parents and community ‘if you see something, or know something, say something,’” said Elk Grove High School Principal Eugene Christmas III in the letter sent home to parents.
It is unclear what charges the two teen boys could be facing because of this incident.
