Two alleged DUI drivers arrested in series of Business 80 crashes, CHP says

One car on Business 80 hit an overturned Civic and caused the Civic to hit its own driver, who had crawled out of the car, CHP said.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Two people were arrested on DUI charges after a series of crashes on Business 80, according to California Highway Patrol. 

The crashes happened in quick succession early Sunday morning on westbound Business 80 around 3:30 a.m.

CHP said a dark blue or black Honda Civic rear-ended a Toyota Tundra, and lost control before crashing into the center divide and overturning.

The driver was able to get out of the car on his own, but another car on Business 80 hit the overturned car and caused the Civic to hit its driver.

The Civic's driver was sent to the hospital with major injuries that included several broken bones, according to the CHP.

He and the driver of the vehicle that crashed into the Civic were both arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
