STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. — A woman died after a shooting just north of Modesto early Sunday morning.
The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department said the shooting happened near McHenry Avenue, north of Stewart Road, around 2:50 a.m.
Arriving deputies said they found a woman who was dead at the scene.
After detectives were called in to investigate, the sheriff's department arrested Alfonso Cervantes, 44 of Turlock, on a homicide charge.
