WOODLAND, Calif. — A Woodland elementary school student managed to escape from a would-be kidnapper Tuesday, police said.

Woodland Police shared information about this scary incident on their Facebook page.

The student was walking home from Freeman Elementary School on the south sidewalk along W. Woodland Avenue around 3 p.m., police said. That student said they noticed an “old green van” parked facing the wrong way.

As the student passed the van, they said a man jumped out and tried to grab them by the arm. The student told police they managed to jerk their arm away and run.

The alleged abductor is described as a white adult male with red hair, dark sunglasses, and was wearing a blue/green shirt. He was also tall and had a heavy build, police said.

Police are asking for any potential witnesses to come forward. If you saw anything or if you have any information about the vehicle or the suspect, you are asked to call the tip line at 530-661-7851.
