Dorothea Puente's Boarding House for Sale

It's being sold as a "fixer-upper," but perhaps the biggest liability of this old house is its past. Dorothea Puente was convicted of killing several tenants and burying them in the yard of the home.

It's a notorious piece of real estate with an infamous past. The Sacramento boarding house where Dorothea Puente killed her tenants and buried them in the yard is up for sale.In 1988, seven bodies were found buried in the side yard. Investigators said Puente poisoned nine of her elderly tenants so she could cash their Social Security checks. She was convicted in three of the murders. Puente, who is now 72, is serving a life sentence at the state women's prison in Chowchilla.Since the killings, the house has for the most part been vacant. Now it is on the market for $199,000.
