5 ways to save money when going to Disneyland | You tell us!

How do you save money when going on a Disneyland vacation? We asked and you answered.

CALIFORNIA, USA — Star Wars Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland opened on May 31. Pictures and videos of the new area flooded Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, leaving others to start planning their next adventure to the happiest place on earth.

But, let's face it, a Disneyland vacation can get pretty expensive. So to help plan our next trip, we went to the ABC10 Facebook page to ask "How do you save money when going on a Disneyland vacation?"

LET'S TALK DISNEY VACATIONS! With Star Wars #GalaxysEdge opening TOMORROW you may be planning a Disneyland vacation right now. Our question is, how do you get the best bang for your buck? How do...

1. Bring your own food and water

The majority of you say the best way to save money on a Disneyland vacation is to bring your own food and water. Sharon Carter suggests getting free ice water and eating a large breakfast at the hotel. Laura Davis suggests bringing in snacks and Andres Emmanuel Guerrero says she hits up the local flea market.

2. Buy merch from local stores instead of the park

Sopha Phengdy says she saves money while at Disneyland by not buying any toys, souvenirs or unnecessary things. A lot of people echoed her comment, but the most surprising tip I saw comes from Miriam Montgomery, who says if you want to buy souvenirs, get them at another store near the park.

3. Check your work and bank to see if they offer any discounts

Some banks and companies will offer slight discounts on everything from movie tickets to vacations to places like Disneyland. Bob Amerine says he got a discounted price through his credit union. The discounted package got him three days at a hotel, entry to the park and early admission. Man, Bob, what credit union are you using and how do I set up an account?

4. Book hotels outside of Disneyland

Of course, when you visit Disneyland you do not just have to worry about entry into the park and the food, you also need to have a place to stay. One of the ways you can save money on your next Disney trip is to book a hotel outside of the park. Melody Flores says "the resort hotels are amazing but expensive!" She always books a hotel right across the street and walks over. Bruce Hamilton echoes that advice saying, "You can literally be across the street, closer to the entrance than two of the onsite hotels and pay half the price."

5. Use a third-party website to book your tickets

Some followers suggest not booking your vacation through Disney, but through a third-party website that can offer a cheaper price. Jessica Lane Taylor says she uses GetAwayToday.Com which offers savings and a layaway plan. Andy Roldan suggests Priceline.

So there you have it. Five ways to save money on a Disneyland vacation. There were tons of other tips. If you would like to read the rest or tell us what we missed, join the conversation on the ABC10 Facebook page.
