2-year-old dies in South Sacramento after getting stuck inside hot car

No arrests have been made in the case as officials continue to investigate.

A 2-year-old boy died Saturday in South Sacramento after getting stuck inside a hot vehicle, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

At approximately 6 p.m., deputies responded to the 9700 block of Everbloom Way on a report of a child stuck inside a hot car. Upon arrival, CPR was performed before the child was transported to the hospital and pronounced dead.

It's unknown how long the child was in the car for, or how he became stuck inside exactly, according to the sheriff's department. The car was parked across the street from the toddler's home.

No arrests have been made in the case as officials continue to investigate.

According to the sheriff's department, this is the first hot car child death the department has investigated this year.
