An attempted murder suspect was taken into custody without incident after initially barricading himself inside his apartment Thursday in Turlock, according to the Turlock Police Department.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., at the request of the Oakdale Police Department, the Turlock Police Department S.W.A.T. Team served an arrest and search warrant in the 1100 block of Pedras Road. The suspect, 37-year-old Jesus Tovar, was wanted for attempted murder by the Oakdale Police Department.

Upon arrival by authorities, the suspect attempted to flee the residence, before reentering the residence and barricading himself in the attic, officials said.

After several hours of intense negotiations, Tovar surrendered peacefully to SWAT officers and was taken into custody.
