Suspect pretends to help elderly woman, but instead steals purse, police say

The suspect allegedly used credit cards from the stolen purse to make fraudulent purchases and commit ID theft.

CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. — The Citrus Heights Police Department needs the public's help identifying a woman they say stole a purse from an elderly person woman the suspect was pretending to help.

On Aug. 29, 2019, while pretending to assist an elderly woman at a Walmart, the suspect stole the victim's purse and ran away, according to a Facebook post from Citrus Police.

Police say the suspect took off in a newer model, red Ford F-150. She allegedly used credit cards from the stolen purse to buy things and commit identity theft.

If you know who this woman is, call Citrus Heights Police at 916-727-5524.
