Family members say Davis kidnapping victim now safe

The suspect allegedly walked into the apartment, flashed a gun and demanded money. When the occupants said they didn't have any money, the suspect ordered one of them to come with him.

The Davis Police Department says a man who they believe was kidnapped after an armed robbery is now safe, according to family members.

According to a press release from the Davis Police Department, on Tuesday, May 22, officers were called to an apartment on the 500 block of K Street for an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers believed the robbery ended with the possible kidnapping of an adult man.

The suspect allegedly walked into the apartment, flashed a gun and demanded money. When the occupants said they didn't have any money, the suspect ordered one of them to come with him.

The victim was believed to be Amani Marquis Sandoval-Jones, 21, of Sacramento. Sandoval-Jones' family later told Davis police he was safe with them around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The suspect is described as a young, Hispanic male, who was wearing a mask and a blue hoodie.
