PLACERVILLE, Calif. - An El Dorado County man has been booked and released on charges stemming from the February 2014 shooting of a California Fish and Wildlife warden near Georgetown.

The El Dorado County Jail log indicates James David Ingram, 48, of Garden Valley was charged with the negligent wounding of a human and damaging property, both violations of the California Fish and Game Code.

Warden Bob Pera was hit in the hand and bullet fragments entered his neck as he approached two hunters after dark last Feb. 14 during what was described as a compliance check.

Pera, an 11-year veteran of the department at the time, was able to use his radio to call for help and the hunters stayed with him and rendered aid until sheriff's deputies arrived.
