Two dead, two hospitalized following Carmichael stabbing, sheriff confirms

Sacramento County Sheriff's officials said the stabbing suspect is in custody.

CARMICHAEL, Calif — Two people were killed and two others were hospitalized Friday afternoon after a stabbing at a Carmichael medical facility, Sacramento County Sheriff confirmed.

The stabbing happened around 4 p.m. at the Carmichael Wellness and Recovery Center on Mission Avenue, Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputy Lacey Nelson said. Deputies arrived to the health care center to find four people with stab wounds.

A man and a woman were pronounced dead on the scene, one man was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, and another woman was taken to the hospital, but her condition is one known.

Nelson said the man who allegedly stabbed the four victims was arrested without incident, and a weapon was found at the scene.

Nancy Naungayan, 70, worked at the Carmichael Wellness and Recovery Center for 13 years but retired two months ago. She told ABC10 that she got a call from her former coworker who told her about the stabbing.

"I'm absolutely horrified. I’m scared to death," Nanguyan said. "I can't even wrap my head around the possibility of having what I’ve heard be the truth. It's just shocking, shocking."

Naungayan told ABC10 that friends of hers who still work at the center said the suspect was a client at the center, which specializes in mental health.

Nelson could not confirm what the man's relationship was to the victims or the health center.

It's unclear what lead to the stabbing.
