FAIRFIELD, Calif. — It's been a fixture in the Solano Town Center mall for more than a decade, but now it has less than a week left before it's gone for good.
The Fun Time Carousel is going away. According to Solano Town Center Marketing Director Sidney Sweeney, the carousel's owners have decided to shut down the operation because the carousel hasn't been making much money over the last several years.
Apparently, mall carousels aren't as popular as they used to be. However, Fairfield residents are not happy that the popular attraction will be leaving.
"It's really sad. I've been bringing my daughters here since they were little," said Adriana King.
"We come every summer to visit grandma and the carousel is one of the places that I like to take them because it's fun, it's easy, and it's cool," Samantha Juez said.
The last day of service is scheduled for Monday, July 22, but mall-goers aren't ready to say goodbye just yet.
"It's a fun thing for kids to do in the community. Just like they focus on getting things for the teenagers out there, they should focus on things for small children as well. I think the city should figure out a way to keep this funded for the kids," Juez suggested.
