According to investigators, James and Portis knew each other before the deadly altercation. Fairfield PD identified James as a suspect in the crime on a social media post Thursday morning. By Thursday evening, they say James showed up to the police station to turn herself in for the crime.

James was booked into the Solano County Jail on a murder complaint. Authorities credit social media for leading to the arrest, less than 12 hours after identifying James as a suspect.

The case remains under investigation.
