One teenager is dead and another in critical condition following a shootout near Armijo High School in Fairfield on Friday afternoon.

Authorities say two teens were shot during what they’re calling a “gun battle” in the area of Washington Street and Bell Avenue. The incident happened just after 5 p.m. as a 16-year-old male was killed and an 18-year-old male is in critical condition.

The shooting prompted a brief lock down at Armijo High School due to the proximity of the shooting.
