The mother of a 6-month-old child has been arrested after admitting she brought her infant with her during a string of recent robberies in the area, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office.
On Feb. 2, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle burglary in progress on Wildridge Drive in El Dorado Hills. During this time, the victim was able to detain a female suspect who was trying to steal property, the sheriff's office said.
The female suspect, 37-year-old Bobbie Ritola, of Folsom, admitted to authorities that she had brought two male friends and her 6-month-old baby to El Dorado Hills to burglarize vehicles. The two men fled the area with her 6-month-old child when they were confronted, Ritola told police.
Deputies later located 29-year-old Kalen White, of Citrus Heights, and 37-year-old Jereme Hale, of Placerville, in a hotel room along with Ritola's 6-month old child. Deputies also found drug paraphernalia, a stun gun, pepper spray and a substantial amount of suspected stolen property in the room, according to the sheriff’s office.
After further investigation, it was discovered the stolen property was linked to multiple thefts and burglaries in El Dorado County, Sacramento County, and Placer County. Deputies were able to confirm the 6-month-old child was also with the group during these other crimes, officials said.
All three suspects were arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, conspiracy and child endangerment. The child was taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services.
