SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified two homeless people killed over the weekend. They were both found after trees fell onto their tents.
According to the coroner’s office, the first death happened Saturday night on north 5th Street, south of the American River. The victim was identified as 40-year-old Rebekah Rohde.
In that case, officials were called to the levee around 6:45 p.m. Saturday for a report of a traumatic injury. Rohde was taken to the hospital where she later died.
The second death happened Sunday on Roseville Road near Tri Stations Road in North Highlands. The victim was identified as 61-year-old Steven Sorensen.
The coroner’s office says both were found with trees on top of their tents. The cause and manner of death are pending further examination.
