A group of horseback riders came across a disturbing find Wednesday in a remote portion of Manteca.
Human remains in what San Joaquin County sheriff’s officials call an advanced stage of decomposition were discovered by the riders near a bend of the San Joaquin River.
The riders called sheriff’s investigators as soon as the unwelcome sight was discovered.
Investigators at this point are still trying to identify the victim.
