Manteca firefighters found one of the drivers trapped in his car, but, despite getting him out of it, they were not able to save his life.

MANTECA, Calif. — Despite efforts by Manteca firefighters to save his life, one man died after a collision had him trapped in a car.

Manteca police went to a crash at Spreckels Avenue and Dupont Court that involved a 1974 Chevy Pickup and a 2012 Toyota Corolla.

The crash happened around 3:39 p.m. on Friday and had traffic blocked in both directions.

According to Manteca officials, the driver of the Toyota was found trapped inside the car, but, despite firefighters being able to remove him from it and attempting to save his life, he passed away.

The driver of the pickup was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution and was said to be cooperative with the investigation.

Both drivers were said to have been driving solo.

The driver of the Toyota was identified as a man out of Modesto, and the driver of the Chevy was identified as a juvenile male from Manteca.

The name of the driver who died will be released once family is notified, but information on the juvenile driver won't be released due to his age.

According to Manteca officials, drugs and alcohol don't appear to be a factor in the collision.
