Manteca's Great Wolf Lodge opening day moved up to July 1

The 500-room resort offers a 95,000 square foot indoor water park, complete with a lazy river and massive wave pool.

MANTECA, Calif. — The Great Wolf Lodge in Manteca is ahead of its construction schedule, the city's latest attraction will be opening an entire month early on July 1, 2020.

The 500 room resort offers a 95,000 square foot indoor water park, complete with a lazy river and massive wave pool. There's also the incredibly large hanging bucket that dumps thousands of gallons of water every few minutes.

"I think is going to be the best water park we've ever done," said Greg Waldron, the Director of Water Parks for Great Wolf Resorts.

The CEO of Great Wolf Resorts told ABC10 he's had his eye on Northern California for quite some time because of its proximity to both the Bay Area and Central Valley.

"And then we're kind of en route between people heading up from the south to Yosemite and back again," said Murray Hennessy, CEO of Great Wolf Resorts.

In the coming months, they'll be hiring nearly 600 employees to help open the resort by July. General Manger Alana Ostrowski said they'll be doing large hiring events in April and May in hopes to hire lifeguards, housekeepers, guest services agents and more.

"Basically, if you want to work here, there's probably something that you could be doing," Ostrowski said.
