A large fire at a wrecking yard in Modesto has sent four firefighters to the hospital and is impacting traffic around the area, according to fire crews.

The wrecking yard is located along Crows Landing Road, according to Modesto fire officials. Crews were dispatched to the area at approximately 1:45 p.m. on reports of three to four vehicles on fire.

There are currently 15 engines, three trucks, and five chief officers on scene for a total of 61 firefighters between the Modesto and Ceres fire departments, as well as mutual aid partners.

Four firefighters have been transported to a local hospital for heat-related injuries. Also, more than 100 vehicles have burned in the wrecking yard.
