SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Almost 13 years ago, Lacy Marie Ferguson was shot to death. On Thursday, the Office of the District Attorney of Stanislaus County announced an arrest.

David Aguilar, 44, formerly of Modesto, was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail. In a statement, the district attorney's office wrote Aguilar had been held in a Mexican prison on an arrest warrant in connection with this case since 2014.

Ferguson and her boyfriend, John Ritchie, had just stepped outside a Quick Stop store on Paradise Road in Modesto on the evening of August 24, 2003. Shots rang out from a car driving through the parking lot. Ferguson, Ritchie, and a third person, Adrian Vega, were hit. Ferguson left behind a 3-year-old daughter.

Aguilar is scheduled for arraignment on May 31.
