21-year-old dies after possible pit bull attack in a Modesto home

Modesto police say two pit bulls may have attacked a 21-year-old in Modesto. The dogs were quarantined by animal control.

MODESTO, Calif. — One man is dead after a possible pit bull attack in Modesto.

Police said they went to 132 Village Road for a report of medical aid after Stanislaus Regional 911 got a call about a man down in a home who was bleeding and not breathing.

The man was found unresponsive by police, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Modesto's Violent Crime Unit took over the investigation and their preliminary investigation suggests the man may have been attacked by the homeowner's two pit bulls. The man had been visiting the residents of the home and had stayed the night with their permission.

The investigation is ongoing and is currently being treated as a suspicious death. The dogs were quarantined by animal control.
