Paradise Sergeant shares 'still standing' photos after Camp Fire

More than a month after the Camp Fire, the Police Association is showing that not all is lost.

PARADISE, Calif. -- Paradise survivors are getting an inside look at the town thanks to a series of Facebook posts by the Paradise Police Officers Association. The man behind the camera is Sgt. Rob Nichols.

When asked why he stopped to take pictures during what must be a busy time, Sgt. Nicols said the following:

"I wanted to show those displaced that not all hope is lost. We have a business foundation to rebuild upon to support our community. As a Police officer it is one way for us to serve our community and help rebuild it. That starts by giving people in our community hope!

The residents of Paradise, along with the Butte County Sheriff's Department and Butte County officials, have made it clear that they aren't giving in the wake of the Camp Fire.

It's a sentiment made clear in the posts, in the attendance at community meetings, and in the comments on the association's Facebook posts.

"It's good to see the old girl still standing," wrote one woman under a photo of the US Bank on Skyway. "Thank you so much ro the first responders who put their lives on the line to save our office! The fire may take our homes but not our will. Together we will rebuild! #paradisestrong #buttecountystrong"

"God I can't wait to go back to work," wrote another woman in a comment under the O'Reilly Auto Parts picture.
