Quarry Park Adventures to create Rocklin jobs

A family attraction set to open in Rocklin this spring, Quarry Park Adventures, will create 150 seasonal jobs. Also, the park is looking for a local family to be the face of its advertising campaign! Auditions are on Friday.

Do you have what it takes to be a star?

A new attraction under construction in the heart of Rocklin is looking for a local family to be the face of its advertising campaign.

It's called Quarry Park Adventures.

It's not much to look at now, while under construction, but Quarry Park Adventures in the heart of Rocklin is designed to be awesome.

Pointing to the 100-foot cliff of a quarry behind the Rocklin Police Department, Phil MacDougall with Quarry Park Adventures described "a zipline that goes up to the top of that tree, over 700 feet. It's going to go into the pit of (the quarry). There'll be three of them going over 30 mph."

He said the 5 1/2-acre attraction, set to open this spring, will create 150 seasonal jobs and be an economic boon to the city of Rocklin.

Plus, it's got a lot for folks to do.

"Ziplines, some free-fall, the king swing, the drop zone," he listed.

There will also be rock climbing, a ropes course, boat rentals and a kids fun zone, MacDougall said, "with the play structures, mini-ziplines, climbing structures."

There will also be refreshments, he said, describing "a 12,000 square foot facility with five mini-restaurants and a 2,000 square foot deck that's going to look over the whole quarry."

It's all open to the public, and there will be space for corporate and school team-building trips

"Two pavilions for corporate functions and picnics," he said.

Quarry Park Adventures will offer a history lesson, too. This old quarry, where families will be playing, provided some of the materials used to build the State Capitol building, as well as some historic buildings in San Francisco.

"160 years' worth of history here, right behind us, and now it's going to be transformed into an adventureland that everyone, of all ages, can enjoy," MacDougall said.

But a good new attraction needs a good marketing campaign, and the folks at Quarry Park Adventures are looking for a local family to be the face of that.

The casting call is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on November 10 at Quarry Park on Rocklin Road in Rocklin. The whole family, even the dog, is welcome to come out audition, MacDougall said! People will be asked to recite the attraction's tagline: Zip Soar Climb Explore. Costumes and creativity are encouraged.

The winning family will appear in Quarry Park Adventures' promotional campaign next year, which includes spots on TV, radio, print and social media.

Pre-registration for the casting call is suggested.
