A Sacramento Chinese restaurant had to close its doors over the holiday weekend because of cockroaches.

Canton House on J Street closed Dec. 22 after a Sacramento County Environmental Management Department inspector found at least eight cockroaches and multiple dead cockroaches throughout the restaurant's dish machine room and main kitchen.

The restaurant reopened Dec. 27 after a follow-up inspection.

This is not the first time Canton House has had to close its doors because of roaches.

The restaurant closed after a Dec. 6 inspection found nine roaches, which included several in the restaurant's prep area. They reopened Dec. 8, two days after the initial inspection.

Canton House owner Chor Lam could not immediately be reached for comment Wednesday.
