286 rabbits rescued from Folsom property, Sacramento SPCA in need of supplies

Since there are so many rabbits, the SPCA says they need supplies like water bottles, Timothy hay, rabbit toys and cages.

Folsom animal control rescued nearly 300 rabbits from a home Friday.

Officers noticed about 100 rabbits when they came to a home in the 200 block of Pine Grove Way for an unrelated investigation. They informed animal control, who sent an officer to inform the family that laws only allow them to have at most 2.

There aren't many details available about the home the rabbits lived in, but Folsom Police say once animal control arrived the officer noticed the animals were living in unsanitary conditions and all 286 rabbits were taken from the home.

The Sacramento SPCA is taking care of the rabbits and are asking for donations of bunny toys and hay to keep them comfortable.

The SPCA worked all day Friday transporting the rabbits and getting cages ready.

Since there are so many rabbits, the SPCA says they need water bottles, Timothy hay, rabbit toys and cages.

The rescued rabbits are not currently available for adoption.

If you are interested in helping, you can drop off any donations at the Sacramento SPCA located at 6201 Florin Perkins Road. They are open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday.

The shelter also has an Amazon wishlist available.
