BIG3 basketball heads to Sacramento for 2020 season

Other first-time hosts in the 10-week season are Minneapolis, Washington, Memphis, Hartford, Conn.; and Portland, Ore.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The BIG3 will stop in Sacramento for its fourth season.

That's one of six cities the league will visit for the first time. The 3-on-3 league co-founded by Ice Cube and composed largely of former NBA players will play every Saturday, except for July 4, until the champion is crowned Aug. 29 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. Other first-time hosts in the 10-week season are Minneapolis, Washington, Memphis, Hartford, Conn.; and Portland, Ore.

The league stops in Sacramento at the Golden 1 Center on Saturday, Aug. 1. Ticket information will be available at a later date. In the press release announcing the fourth season locations, Ice Cube pointed out that all the cities, "are known to have some of the most passionate and knowledgeable sports fans in the world."

“Whether we’ve visited a city before or if it’s our first time in town, this year fans in the arena will be treated to something special with BIG3 games, featuring our new one-on-one Bring the Fire rule and entertainment acts every weekend.”

The "Bring the Fire" rules allows teams one challenge per half, which result in an in-game one-on-one match up. The winner of the one-on-one match wins the challenge.

Another change coming this season is the games will only take place in one city per weekend. This allows the BIG3 to create a bigger feel, with music, entertainment, and clinics to every city it visits.

The first-round of the playoffs will be held on Aug. 22 at Portland's Moda Center.
