Sideshow near Cal Expo

ID=27897419California Highway Patrol was investigating a sideshow car event that happened near The California Exposition and State Fair Sunday afternoon. The sideshow caused traffic to stop around 3 p.m.

A witness told News10 that he witnessed smoke from Business 80 on his way home from the county fair. He pulled over and recorded video of the smoke and sideshow.

CHP said they cited one of the drivers and impounded his car.

According to officers, sideshows are becoming a trend in Sacramento.

"It has been a bigger problem in the Bay area," CHP officer Chad Hertzell said. "Now it's kind of bleeding over into the Sacramento area."

Another sideshow took place a couple of hours later at the intersection of Elkhorn blvd and Metro Air Pkwy. The CHP says about 40 cars were involved and they all dispersed when an officer arrived at the scene.

"These types of acts are very arrogant and reckless and anyone who participates, we will come after you," Hertzell said. >>
