SACRAMENTO, Calif — The father of the 12-year-old who was struck and killed last weekend while running after someone on Interstate 80 was in court Thursday afternoon facing multiple charges of having sex with a minor.
Carewin “Glenn” Czekaj's attorney asked a Sacramento County judge if he could be allowed to attend his daughter, Kendra Czekaj, funeral on Friday, January 24.
The prosecutor objected to the request, arguing that Czekaj was the reason Kendra was in the children’s receiving home, because she was allegedly the victim of his charges.

After reviewing the case file, the judge agreed and denied Czekaj’s attorney’s request to attend the funeral.

According to court documents, his daughter Kendra was the victim in those charges.
Kendra was living at the Children's Receiving Home of Sacramento when she ran out onto a freeway trying to stop a 16-year-old girl who was apparently trying to run away. The teen Kendra was running after was not injured.
