SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Firefighters were called out to rescue more than 30 people on the American River on Saturday, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department.
All of the rescues were made on just six different calls, including one call that resulted in 20 people being rescued after a raft was caught on a branch.
During that rescue, firefighters said one raft got stuck and some riders fell into the river. When another raft came along to help out, they too got stuck. Firefighters were able to safely pull all 20 from the river and brought them to a landing dock.
According to Sac Metro Fire, of all the rescues, six people were considered to be in “immediate need” because those people were not wearing life jackets. There were no reported injuries.
