JJ Clavo's mother shares embrace with mother of her son's alleged killer

Family & friends of both Jaulon "JJ" Clavo and Keymontae Lindsey showed up at Lindsey's court arraignment on Monday.

Before the court hearing, Lindsey's mother and brother approached JJ's mother to offer their condolences.

The two mothers have both publicly acknowledged each other, expressing a bond over each losing a son in a way.

"My heart goes out to you seriously...I know it's difficult...I'm praying...but my baby is innocent," said Ranika Moore, Lindsey's mother, to Dr. Clavo.

Lindsey was being tried as an adult for the murder of the Grant Union High School football player. Sacramento Police announced last Thursday that Lindsey was the prime suspect in this murder.

Lindsey was facing three chargers: murder, attempted murder, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. There may also be gang affiliation enhancements added on all those charges.

"Nothing that happened inside changes anything...seing him in person didn't change anything either," said Dr. Clavo. "He's a kid. It's just sad that we're here today.

Dr. Clavo continued to thank her family, friends, and community for supporting her through the last three months without her son.

Outside the courthouse, the suspect's family stood by Lindsey's innocence.

Lindsey's mother didn't want to speak on camera after arraignment, but she did talk to ABC10 on Friday,

"I still want to say the Chief of Police is dead wrong for coming out and saying he has the murder [suspect]. He's dead wrong," said Serella Ellis, Lindsey's grandmother.

Other family members and friends of Lindsey's shouted out "Free Keymontae!" as they left the courthouse.

Lindsey's next court appearance is on March 7.
