There are a lot of changes and new additions coming to R Street in Sacramento, including several businesses opening in the next few months or even sooner.
The changes have not gone unnoticed by locals.
"Of course I knew what was going on," said Deatrice Lockhart, a Sacramento resident. "The roads were blocked off. You couldn't find anywhere to park."
According to Ice Blocks management, some of the new businesses include Bonobos, Pure Barre, Healthy Hounds, West Elm, Beast and Bounty, Title Boxing Company, Milk Money, Device Brewing Taproom, Halal Guys, Warby Parker, and Mendocino Farms.
A boutique grocery store, Market 5-ONE-5, opened on R Street, just a few blocks away from the Ice Blocks project.
"I love that it's getting more and more livable," said Sonya Hendren, who was at Market 5-ONE-5 with her son.
A few years ago the City of Sacramento announced a goal to build 10,000 housing units downtown in a decade. Many people are excited to see the businesses opening up and hoping it means more foot traffic.
"Fewer cars, more people walking around more energy and activity," said Scott Lee, a Sacramento resident. "That's what I would love to see."
