The Sacramento Sheriff's Office and Rancho Cordova Police Department hosted a two day event where residents could surrender unwanted guns this weekend.
The event began Friday, ending Saturday at 5 p.m.
The amnesty program gave residents the opportunity to voluntarily surrender any unwanted guns in a safe and anonymous environment.
According to the Sacramento Sheriff, 85 firearms were surrendered, no questions asked, on Friday. 173 were surrendered the following day, bringing the two day total to 258 firearms.
