The California Highway Patrol reopened all northbound lanes on the Capital City Freeway, hours after shutting it down because officers found a vehicle riddled with bullet holes on the right shoulder.

UPDATED: 9:55 p.m.

California Highway Patrol shutdown the northbound side of the Capital City Freeway Monday night after a vehicle with bullet holes was found on the side of the road, officials told ABC10.

CHP Officer AJ McTaggart said there are no known injuries resulting from the shooting.

The car was found just after 6:50 p.m. on the far right shoulder of the freeway after the El Camino Avenue exit, according to McTaggart. The car was riddled with bullet holes and had shell casings in or around it, McTaggart said.

When the car was found, nobody was inside, the doors were open and the lights were still on.

McTaggart told ABC10 that investigators will be there for some time collecting evidence, so it's unclear when the freeway will be reopened.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a shooting that shut down all lanes on the Capital City Freeway late Monday evening, officials confirmed.

CHP officials have shutdown all northbound lanes on the Cap City Freeway just north of El Camino Avenue. It's unclear what time the shooting happened or whether there were any injuries.

Rush hour traffic in the area had been over for some time, but the lane closures have caused major backup.

There is no estimated time of reopening the lanes to traffic, CHP officials said. Officials said drivers should look to take alternate routes.
