Sacramento shooting victim dies in crash on way to hospital

Roughly 30 minutes after being shot, the victim was in a car crash, where he died from his injuries.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A Sacramento man died on his way to the hospital in a car crash as he was en route after being shot, authorities say.

According to a Facebook post by the Sacramento Police Department, just after midnight Sunday, Oct. 27, officers responded to a shooting call along the 2500 block of Traction Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were told by a witness that the man suffering from a gunshot wound was on his way to the hospital. 

Roughly 30 minutes later, deputies with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department responded to a car crash near the intersection of Hurley Way and Morse Avenue. The gunshot victim, a 28-year-old man, was involved in the crash and died at the scene of the accident. 

The driver of the other car was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The victim's identity has not yet been revealed.
