Six Easter egg hunts to visit in Sacramento

Easter is April 21. There are plenty of Easter egg hunts for the entire family over the next two weekends.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Easter is right around the corner, which means bright colors, bunnies and baskets filled with candy. 

Families looking to celebrate the springtime holiday have plenty of Easter egg hunts to choose from in and around Northern California. 

Saturday, April 13

  • Underwater Egg Hunt
  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Fruitridge Community and Aquatic Center, 4000 Fruitridge Road, Sacramento
  • $5
  • Children will need a swimsuit for this Easter egg hunt. The Southgate Recreation and Park District invites kids 12 and under to search for eggs in a swimming pool. Families can stick around for open swim time after the hunt is over. 

Sunday, April 14

  • Egg Hunt and Bunny Visit
  • BusyKidz Play Town and Coffee Shop, 118 Woodmere Road #110 Folsom
  • $12
  • This egg hunt for children age 6 and under will start with storytime before families go searching for over 500 eggs. Four golden eggs will contain special prizes, including a $50 gift certificate to BusyKidz Coffee and a free six month membership.

Saturday, April 20 

  • EGGstravaganZOO
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Sacramento Zoo, 3930 West Land Park Drive, Sacramento
  • General admission
  • Families can search for emerald green emu eggs in the Sacramento Zoo while checking out animal exhibits. The zoo will host age-specific egg hunts, crafts and games.

  • Helicopter Egg Drop 
  • 9 a.m. to noon
  • North Natomas Regional Park, 2501 New Market Drive Sacramento, CA 95835 
  • Free
  • Hundreds of eggs will fall from the sky at the second annual Helicopter Egg Drop. Families can also snap a photo with the Easter Bunny and enjoy face painting and games.  

  • West Park and Fiddyment Farm Community Easter Egg Hunt
  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Fred Festersen Park, 2275 Village Green Drive, Roseville
  • Free
  • Children who join this egg hunt will be in search of a “Golden Egg.” Once the hunt is over, kids can hop on to bounce houses, photos with the Easter Bunny and face painting.  

Sunday, April 21

  • Spring Egg-Stravaganza
  • 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
  • Effie Yeaw Nature Center, 2850 San Lorenzo Way Carmichael
  • $5 Parking 
  • The Nature Center will put its own spin on the traditional egg hunt by highlighting animals that hatch from eggs. Instead of looking for eggs, families will tour the center’s nest and egg collections before searching for nests.
