Shooting suspect arrested thanks to help from community

"This is a true example of the police department and the community working together to apprehend a violent suspect believed to be responsible for numerous crimes in our community."

Days after a shooting that occurred while a man tried to steal from a vehicle, West Sacramento Police have arrested a suspect.

22-year-old Braydon Lesseos was arrested for a shooting that happened in the 1500 block of Limewood Drive.

According to police, a surveillance camera caught Lesseos getting into his mid 80's white Econoline van after firing a gun while trying to steal things from a vehicle early Wednesday morning.

Days later a Sacramento officer noticed a van matching the one described in the shooting and pulled it over. Lesseos was identified as the driver and the wanted suspect in the shooting. He was taken into custody and is currently being held without bail at the Yolo County Jail.

Lesseos was previously convicted of possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and vehicle theft. He also matched the description of a suspect involved in several vehicle burglary and thefts in the Southport area.

Police say the investigation would not have been as successful with the help of several members of the community who provided video to help identify Lesseos.

"This is a true example of the police department and the community working together to apprehend a violent suspect believed to be responsible for numerous crimes in our community," The department said on Facebook.
