One person is dead, and another is recovering in two separate, hit-and-run incidents in Northern California.

The first happened just before 7 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, in Galt. A 15-year-old student was riding his bike to school near the intersection of F and Third Streets when he was struck by a car. The victim sustained minor injuries.

The driver, a 22-year-old Galt resident, turned herself into police later that day. She’s been charged with felony hit-and-run.

The second incident happened around 1 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, in Stockton. According to police, a woman was parked along the Eighth Street off-ramp, putting gas in her car when she was struck by a white van. The victim died from the injuries sustained and the van fled the scene.

Police believe the van could have damage on the right, front side and the right-side mirror was broken off, as well. The driver fled in an unknown direction, but police believe the car could be parked in the Weston Ranch neighborhood.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact Officer Malato or Officer Butler at the Stockton CHP Office at 209-938-4800.
