A Stockton high school wrestling coach, behind bars following his arrest for an alleged sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student, was arraigned in court on Tuesday.

Phillip Maglaya, 25, wore an orange jailhouse jumpsuit as he stood before a judge, Tuesday afternoon, in San Joaquin County Superior Court. He is charged with several felony sexual offenses as well as child abduction.

Maglaya indicated to the judge he could not afford an attorney and then consulted with a public defender. The arraignment was continued until Sept. 11.

The parents of the teenager Maglaya is accused of having an illegal relationship with were in the courtroom, but quickly left without commenting to the media covering the case.

A missing person's report was filed by the family of the teenage girl on Aug. 22. Maglaya and the teenager were found in a Stockton home on East Mendocino Avenue early last Thursday morning.

The teenage girl had been on the wrestling team for a year-and-a-half.

Her parents made a nationwide plea for the safe return of their daughter last week on ABC's Good Morning America.
