Two men, one woman killed in apparent Stockton gang shooting, police say

Friends and family have identified siblings David and Tiffany Connary as two of the victims killed early Friday morning in Stockton. The third victim, a friend of the two, has not yet been identified.

STOCKTON, Calif. — Three people were killed in a shooting early Friday morning while sitting inside of a car in Stockton, police officials said.

“I just heard a bunch of shots, I guess. Sounded like firecrackers to me," said Ricky Spears, who lives on the corner across from the shooting. “I came out and I seen [sic] a Stockton PD car pull up and walk over to the car...he looked like he opened the door and somebody fell out of there.”

According to the Stockton Police Department, officers responded around midnight to reports of a shooting near F Street and Finland Avenue. When officers arrived, they found three people inside of a vehicle with gunshot wounds.

A man and woman, identified by family members as Tiffany and David Connary, were pronounced dead at the scene. The two are 18 and 19-years-old, respectively. Another man, identified by a cousin as 18-year-old Remilio Castillo-Rivera, was taken to the hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Leila Maimone, the sister of Tiffany and David, says the two were "super close" and that Tiffany was a student at Franklin High School. Minone said the green Toyota Camry that the trio was shot in belonged to David.

“He was a good kid, a very, very good kid. He loved football. Like, he played football for like many, many, many years," Alondra Saucedo said of her cousin Remilio, adding that he graduated from Franklin High School in 2017.

“He laughed. He made a lot of jokes, a lot of jokes. That’s one thing we’re going to miss from him," Saucedo said. "They took a young life and they caused so much pain.”

While Maimone said she has no idea why someone would shoot the three friends, Stockton Police believe this to be a gang-related shooting, and not random.
