Suspect arrested for arson after fire destroys classroom at Grant High School

Adam Prater was arrested for arson and burglary, among other charges, following the incident.

A suspect has been charged with arson after a fire burning Sunday night in Del Paso Heights destroyed one classroom at Grant High School, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

The two-alarm fire was reported around 10:30 p.m. as crews attempted to stop multiple classrooms from catching fire. Early reports indicated that at least two classrooms were on fire.

Fire crews put out the fire an hour later, leaving just one classroom destroyed and saving adjacent buildings and classrooms. There were no reported injuries.

On Tuesday, Adam Prater was arrested for arson and burglary, among other charges, following the incident. Officials said Prater forced his way into the classroom and set the fire before leaving.
