Inside the Turlock bowling alley that's been more than 10 years in the making

10 Pin Fun Center is the first bowling alley in Turlock in more than 20 years. It's journey to opening day has kept the city eagerly waiting for more than a decade.

TURLOCK, Calif. — After more than a decade of waiting, the ball is finally rolling at the Ten Pin Fun Center in Turlock.

"I remember when I moved here, they said that 'oh yeah, we're building a bowling alley' - that was about ten years ago," Robert Provencio, the General Manager of Food and Beverage, said.

The Ten Pin Fun Center a massive 62,000 square foot, $18 million facility with 34 bowling lanes, 60 arcade games, three bars, a restaurant and soon, laser tag.

"We want it to be an overall experience that you'll never forget and then you'll keep coming back," Austin Cooken, the General Manager for Gaming and Operations, said.

It's the city of Turlock's first bowling alley since their last one, Divine Gardens, shut down back in 1997.

"I think people here in Turlock have an emotional connection to bowling," Gary Soiseth, a spokesman for the Ten Pin Fun Center, said. "This is a place where people will congregate, come together as a community, and enjoy themselves. So, to see bowling come back to Turlock, I think that it's a very emotional reaction in a positive way."

Meant to serve as much more than just a bowling alley, its restaurant, which has room for more than 200 people with indoor, outdoor, and skybox seating, has pretty much all farm-to-fork fresh food.

"Our cheese on our pizzas come two miles south of us," Provencio said. "Our beer is brewed a mile away from us."

Ten Pin Fun Center was a complicated project that the company took their time on to make it perfect.

"The heart and soul is really into this place," Cooken said. "A lot of the people just think of the money, but it's just really what they put into it from themselves to make it unique and [to] give them that experience that everyone is going to come here to experience."

Now that the wait it finally over, they want you to know that bowling is here to stay in Turlock.

"It's an amazing feeling knowing that we're finally here. We're finally open, and yeah, we're going to be around," Provencio said.

The Ten Pin Fun Center is open now for their soft opening. They will hold their grand opening celebration on Friday.
