Valley Springs couple identified in deadly Highway 26 crash in Stockton

The Valley Springs couple was identified as 68-year-old Donna Nava and 71-year-old Benino Nava.

STOCKTON, Calif. — Two people were identified in a deadly crash in Stockton along Highway 26, the San Joaquin County Coroner's Office said Monday.

The Valley Springs couple was identified as 68-year-old Donna Nava and 71-year-old Benino Nava.

The crash happened on Highway 26 and Alpine Road just before 11 a.m. on May 10, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officials say two cars, a silver Infiniti and a white F-250, were involved in the crash.

The Infiniti was heading eastbound when the driver hit some gravel on the shoulder, lost control, and veered into oncoming traffic, according to CHP Officer Rubin Jones.

The F-250 hit the passenger side of the Infiniti once it crossed over into the westbound lane. It is not clear which vehicle the couple was in.

The crash is under investigation and it's unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
