Who is Kenny the Dancing Man?

You might call Kenny the Dancing Man somewhat of a local celebrity in Sacramento.

You might call Kenny the Dancing Man somewhat of a local celebrity in Sacramento.

At first, he may seem a little strange, but love or hate him, you've probably seen him and his dance moves in person or on the internet.

ABC 10's Frances Wang set out to find more about the dancing man, who's real name is Kenny Buchanan.

When asked how old he was, Kenny responded he was "19."

"I look young for my age, but this is all sunflower seeds and tuna fish," Kenny said.

Kenny was born in Milwaukee. He moved here at a young age for his father's job. After school, he joined the army. When he moved back to Sacramento, he spent his days loading trucks and bartending.

About 25 years ago, Kenny was married. But he said he quickly realized the married life wasn't for him and got divorced. He doesn't have any kids but said he wishes he did. His mother was a pediatrics nurse and he always had a soft spot for children.

"Now I dance all the time," Kenny said, showing off some of his moves. "I take dance lessons from this lady dance instructor. She's like a super dancer!"

You can find Kenny at a different club every night. His weekly lineup includes LowBrau on Monday, Badlands on Wednesday, Mangos on Friday, and Faces on Saturday. He also has been seen at concerts in the park, college football tailgates, and randomly throughout the city.

"I love to shock people," Kenny said. "Find a theater where there's 1,000 people waiting in line, get out of the car and dance in front of them because they're trapped. They have to look at me. I love that."

A misconception Kenny wanted to clear up, he's never drunk or on drugs.

"No [substance] can duplicate what I do," Kenny said." I'm ready to rock! By second hour [of me dancing] I'm going crazy I feel like I can fly."

Kenny attributes his physique and energy to his diet and workout regimen.

"I'm fired up on tuna fish, sardines, prune juice and fat free cottage cheese. No bad habits," Kenny said. "I lift weights three times a day, seven days a week."

As much fun as Kenny has taking over the town, the ultimate goal is to make people laugh.

"Like Joan Rivers said, I don't care if they laugh at me or with me. As long as you're laughing, I'm happy." Kenny said. "I think we as human beings have to love one another and bear each other's differences. That's how we come together. We share our story and become friends."

Kenny said he knows he has haters, but they don't bother him.

"I scare the younger guys. They're all upset when they see a guy like me dance. Girls like to dance with a fun guy who's not drunk and stupid you know," Kenny said. "Haters are kind of good. They give us hits and make us stronger. God love sthem too you know."

When asked what he thinks about his "local celeb" status, he said it's not enough.

"I want to be world wide!" Kenny exclaimed.

Kenny will be the main face of #HOFDay on Saturday, a music festival with more than 10,000 expected to attend.
