PG&E considering another power shutoff for 17 Northern, Central California counties

PG&E says this potential power shutoff would be smaller in scope than the power shutoff done from Oct. 9 through Oct. 12.

CALIFORNIA, USA — Another PG&E power shutoff could be in store for portions of 17 counties in Northern and Central California.

Wind conditions heading into Wednesday and Thursday are keeping PG&E's meteorologists glued to their screens due to a strong and dry wind event for Wednesday and Thursday.

Due to the forecast weather conditions and dry fuels, PG&E is considering another power shutoff for portions of multiple counties.

Those would impacted could include:

  • Amador
  • Butte
  • Colusa
  • El Dorado
  • Lake
  • Marin
  • Mendocino
  • Napa
  • Nevada
  • Placer
  • Plumas
  • San Joaquin
  • Solano
  • Sonoma
  • Tehama
  • Yolo
  • Yuba

Currently, no Public Safety Power Shutoff has been called, but PG&E will be providing updates on the situation.

The scope of the potential power shutoff in this situation would be smaller than the one implemented from Oct. 9 to Oct. 12. that impacted more than 700,000 customers.
